WLDS: Gov's budget outlook prompts response from candidate

(WLDS Jacksonville, Ill)  A candidate for Illinois’ 50th senate district is calling for an end to new spending until the state’s debts are paid.

Gray Noll says leaders in the state have perpetuated a cycle that continues to allow spending to increase, contributing to Illinois’ annual recurring deficits in both the general fund and total budget.

Noll issued a statement in reaction to Governor Pat Quinn’s gloomy budget forecast. Quinn’s three-year projection shows state revenues climbing for two years and then dropping sharply when the state income tax increase expires.

Noll says cutting new programs is a necessary response.
